Torus Tower Level 3 · The standard crystal composition

Why does each crystal sit exactly where it does?

At Aquadea, we do not select crystals merely one by one according to their traditional properties. What matters is the composition in the direction of flow: What forms the ground? What opens? What aligns? Where is the centre? Where does dynamism arise – and how is it then calmly integrated back into the water?

The configuration shown here is our standard composition for the Torus Tower Level 3 with four strands. Each strand contains three modules, each with three Crystal Vortex™ chambers – a total of 36 crystal positions. The guiding principle is a powerfully built yet balanced field and a clear, fresh, soft and round sensory water experience.

This page describes the crystal composition only – that is, which crystal sits at which of the 36 positions. Shown is the standard version with titanium Crystal Vortex™ chambers. Whether the chambers are additionally plated with silver, gold, platinum, ruthenium or ExoPlasma is a further step within the overall composition. The precious-metal chambers carry surcharges – see the overview below.

Four levels of consideration – one composition

1. Flow logic Each strand develops from foundation through opening and centre to integration. A powerful crystal is therefore not automatically placed at the beginning – its position must fit the quality that precedes it and the one that follows.
2. I Ching – eight fundamental forces The four strands form four complementary axes: Earth–Heaven, Water–Fire, Thunder–Wind and Mountain–Lake. In this way, all eight trigram archetypes are incorporated into the overall composition.
3. I GING 81 (Norbert Herdlicka's 81-element model) In addition, we consider the elemental composition of the crystals within the extended 81-position ordering model. Centre, polarity, movement, condensation and transmission are particularly important here. This is why germanium and lithium niobate play a special role in the inner architecture.
4. Alchemy & the crystal healing tradition In alchemical terms, we read the structure as a path from matter and binding through dissolution, conjunction and activation to renewed embodiment. The crystal healing tradition adds traditional qualities such as clarity, harmony, alignment, vitality or calm to this view.
Important: The classical I Ching has eight trigrams and 64 hexagrams. I GING 81 is an extended ordering system by Norbert Herdlicka in which 81 positions are related to chemical elements. For minerals, this does not mean that a crystal has “a single I Ching number”. Rather, we consider its characteristic chemical elements and the entire crystal matrix as an additional layer within the composition.

The nine positions of a strand

The nine crystal positions are read as three consecutive modules. This threefold division condenses the larger Torus Tower architecture into a form that is clear and comprehensible for Level 3.

1

Module 1 · Foundation

Positions 1–3: primal ground · opening · alignment

Alchemically: Prima Materia / Sal → Solutio → first order.

2

Module 2 · Centre

Positions 4–6: threshold · centre · transformation

Alchemically: Separatio → Coniunctio → activation / transmutation.

3

Module 3 · Integration

Positions 7–9: expanse · reconnection · integration

Alchemically: Sublimatio → Coagulatio → calm embodiment.

Strand 1 · Earth ↔ Heaven

Sphere of effect: foundation, centre, order and clear alignment.

Elite shungite → Black tourmaline → Kyanite → Germanium → Lithium niobate → Rock crystal → White sapphire → Rose quartz → Rock crystal

Why this order?
Pos. Crystal Function in the strand I Ching / I GING 81 Alchemical reading
1 Elite shungite Sets a dense, calm starting point. The strand deliberately begins not with opening, but with substance and gathering. Carbon-rich matrix as an image of primal matter, depth and condensation. Prima Materia / Sal: the still unformed foundation.
2 Black tourmaline Gives the foundation contour and boundary. The condensation gains direction without yet opening strongly outward. Complex mineral matrix; read here as a stabilizing, yin-like quality. Fixatio: holding, bounding, stabilizing.
3 Kyanite After foundation and boundary comes the axis. Kyanite guides the movement into a clear linear alignment. Aluminium silicate: structuring crystal matrix; symbolically the transition from earth to order. Separatio / axis: differentiating and aligning.
4 Germanium Forms the threshold to the centre. Germanium is deliberately placed before the centre: it mediates between condensation and transmission. Ge 32 lies within the inner circle of nine around the centre in the I GING 81 working model and is read as a mediating, transmitting quality. Mercurius: transition, mediation, movement between two states.
5 Lithium niobate · LiNbO₃ The central position of this strand. Here the field is to be gathered and at the same time kept in motion. Nb 41 stands for the centre and essential yin in I GING 81. At Aquadea, its combination with lithium is read as a strong coupling of movement and centre. Coniunctio: union of polar forces in a centre.
6 Rock crystal Clears the previously condensed centre and carries it into a transparent, ordered onward movement. Silicon dioxide matrix. Silicon 14 also belongs to the inner circle of nine in the I GING 81 model used. Purificatio: clarification after the union.
7 White sapphire Sets the highest level of order and clarity in the strand. After the inner gathering, the field may open. Corundum matrix of aluminium oxide; read here as a clear, dimensionally stable crystal order. Sublimatio: expansion and refinement.
8 Rose quartz Prevents too “hard” a conclusion to the axis of clarity. The expanse is brought back softly and connectingly. Quartz matrix like rock crystal, but with a different mineralogical signature and traditionally a different resonance quality. Coagulatio: the high order is brought back warmly into form.
9 Rock crystal Brings the strand to a clear close and bundles the preceding stages into a shared signature. The recurring silicon dioxide matrix acts as a connecting motif across several strands. Integratio: clear, calm embodiment.

Strand 2 · Water ↔ Fire

Sphere of effect: flow, taste, heart quality and living warmth – followed by a return to the water quality.

Amazonite → Aquamarine → Blue chalcedony → Rock crystal → Rose quartz → Rhodochrosite → Sunstone → Amethyst → Aquamarine

Why this order?
Pos. Crystal Function in the strand I Ching / I GING 81 Alchemical reading
1 Amazonite Begins softly and minerally. It links the supporting element of earth with an already distinctly flowing quality. Potassium feldspar matrix: several elemental qualities act together; hence a good transitional stone rather than an extreme single impulse. Prima Materia: a starting state that is still bound but already mobile.
2 Aquamarine Opens unmistakably towards water, freshness and expanse. Beryl matrix with several elements; in the overall picture assigned to the water pole Kan. Solutio: dissolving and bringing into flow.
3 Blue chalcedony Makes the opened flow calmer and more even. It mediates between aquamarine and the clarity that follows. Quartz family; the shared SiO₂ base creates kinship with rock crystal, rose quartz and amethyst. Mercurius: gentle transmission.
4 Rock crystal Clears the water stream before the heart and fire side is built up. Silicon 14 as part of the inner circle of nine in the I GING 81 working model. Clarificatio: clarification before the union.
5 Rose quartz The centre of this strand is deliberately soft. Water and fire are not meant to fight each other, but to connect through a harmonious centre. Quartz matrix as a stable base carrier; traditionally associated with connection and harmony. Coniunctio: balancing of opposites.
6 Rhodochrosite After the soft centre, brings in more warmth, physicality and liveliness. Manganese carbonate; mineralogically quite different from the quartz group and therefore a deliberate shift in the field. Fermentatio: enlivening from the centre outward.
7 Sunstone Sets the actual fire/yang peak of the strand. Feldspar family; symbolically assigned to the bright, active pole Li/Fire. Sulphur / Rubedo: warmth, activity, radiance.
8 Amethyst Takes the edge off the fire and leads it back into a calmer, clearer quality. Quartz matrix with its own iron/colour-centre signature; combines kinship with differentiation. Distillatio: refinement after activation.
9 Aquamarine The strand ends in water once again. The fire is not left standing as an end point, but integrated into a fresh, soft water character. Return to the Kan pole – the cycle water → fire → water closes. Coagulatio / integration: transformation is led back into the flow.

Strand 3 · Thunder ↔ Wind

Sphere of effect: impulse, vitality, movement, transmission and breadth of field.

Amber → Chrysoprase → Rock crystal → Kyanite → Ruby → Germanium → Lithium niobate → Labradorite → White sapphire

Why this order?
Pos. Crystal Function in the strand I Ching / I GING 81 Alchemical reading
1 Amber Begins with stored warmth and an organically grown character. It is the “resting impulse” before movement arises. Carbon-rich organic matrix; symbolically stored solar energy. Prima Materia with a Sulphur component: bound warmth.
2 Chrysoprase Carries the impulse over into growth, freshness and renewal. Chalcedony/quartz family with nickel-based colouring; combines quartz structure with a distinct trace-element signature. Germinatio: the beginning of living unfolding.
3 Rock crystal Focuses the emerging movement before it enters the axis. SiO₂ as the recurring connecting matrix. Clarificatio: the impulse becomes unambiguous.
4 Kyanite Gives the strong strand a clear direction. Without this axis, the fire power that follows would spread too widely. Structuring aluminium silicate; symbolically guidance and linear order. Separatio / Directio: aligning before activation.
5 Ruby The central point of fire. Ruby is used only once in the entire 36-position composition and thus deliberately becomes the distinctive impulse of life. Corundum with traces of chromium. Same basic matrix as white sapphire, but a clearly different symbolic pole: fire instead of crystalline brightness. Sulphur / Rubedo: fire of life and active centre.
6 Germanium Takes up the concentrated impulse of the ruby and carries it onward and outward. Ge 32 is read in the I GING 81 working model as a transmitting quality within the circle of the centre – particularly fitting for the wind/penetration axis. Mercurius: the fire becomes transmissible.
7 Lithium niobate · LiNbO₃ Gives the expanding movement an inner point of reference once more, so that expanse is not mistaken for dispersion. Niobium 41 brings back the centre component; in the Aquadea working model, lithium adds a moving component. Fixatio in motu: a centre within the movement.
8 Labradorite Acts here as a threshold stone between great dynamism and the clear conclusion. Complex feldspar matrix; several elements rather than a monolithic single signature – fitting for transition and multilayeredness. Sublimatio: transition to a further level.
9 White sapphire Brings the most powerful strand of movement to a close not with fire, but with crystalline clarity. Corundum matrix; as the counterpole to ruby, fire ↔ clarity arises within the same mineral type. Coagulatio: the movement takes on clear form.

Strand 4 · Mountain ↔ Lake

Sphere of effect: calm, resonance, soft heart quality and harmonious reconnection.

Unakite-epidote → Amethyst → Rose quartz → Blue chalcedony → Rock crystal → Chrysoprase → Aquamarine → Rose quartz → Aquamarine

Why this order?
Pos. Crystal Function in the strand I Ching / I GING 81 Alchemical reading
1 Unakite-epidote Begins slowly, earthily and close to the body. This strand does not need to drive – it is meant to carry and gather. Natural mineral aggregate with several silicate phases; fitting for the image of a grown, connected foundation. Sal / Prima Materia: supporting form.
2 Amethyst From the earth, stillness arises first. Amethyst does not open explosively, but leads into gathering and clarity. Quartz matrix with its own trace-element/colour-centre signature. Purificatio: calming and clarification.
3 Rose quartz The stillness becomes soft. This creates a space of resonance before the strand becomes more communicative outward. Quartz family as the connecting base matrix; traditionally associated with the heart and harmony. Concordia: connection without strong activation.
4 Blue chalcedony Gently opens the gathered quality towards exchange and flow. SiO₂ family – so the inner kinship with rose quartz and rock crystal is preserved. Mercurius: resonance begins to flow.
5 Rock crystal The centre of this strand is neutral and clear. It gathers the soft qualities without “heating” them further. Silicon 14 as part of the inner circle of nine in the I GING 81 model used. Coniunctio: a calm, transparent centre.
6 Chrysoprase From the calm centre, fresh liveliness arises again – but much more gently than in the ruby strand. Quartz/chalcedony family with nickel signature; same matrix, new impulse. Fermentatio: gentle renewal.
7 Aquamarine Opens the strand into expanse and water quality. Assigned to the water pole; complex beryl matrix. Sublimatio / Solutio: expanse through flow.
8 Rose quartz Ties the expanse back to a soft, harmonious resonance. The recurring quartz matrix creates a connection to the centre and to the other strands. Coagulatio: gentle re-embodiment.
9 Aquamarine The last strand deliberately ends open, fresh and water-related. The overall composition thus closes not heavily, but flowingly. Return to the water motif as the sensory conclusion of the entire system. Integratio: calm movement instead of a static end.

Why certain crystals recur

Repetition in this composition is not a lack of variety, but a deliberate ordering principle. Rock crystal, rose quartz and aquamarine appear several times because they connect the four very different strands with one another.

  • Rock crystal: five positions – clarity, connection and a shared quartz matrix.
  • Rose quartz: four positions – soft integration and connecting heart quality.
  • Aquamarine: four positions – relation to water, freshness and a flowing conclusion.
  • Germanium and lithium niobate: two positions each – targeted points of structure and centre, not blanket repetition.
  • Ruby: only one position – this keeps the fire a precise impulse rather than letting it become the dominant overall quality.

A closer look at the I GING 81 level

For us, I GING 81 is not a simple list of “stone = number”. In a mineral, several chemical elements usually come together. We therefore consider three levels: the dominant crystal lattice, characteristic trace elements and the position of the crystal within the overall sequence.

Niobium 41 · Centre In the I GING 81 model, niobium is assigned to the centre and to the strongly gathering yin quality. This is why LiNbO₃ stands once exactly in the middle of the Earth–Heaven strand and a second time in the dynamic Thunder–Wind axis, to tie movement back to a centre.
Germanium 32 · Mediation In the Aquadea working model, germanium is assigned to the inner circle of nine and to a transmitting quality. This is why it sits not at the beginning or end, but at transitions: once before the centre and once directly after the ruby impulse.
Silicon 14 · Connecting matrix Rock crystal, rose quartz, amethyst, chalcedony and chrysoprase belong mineralogically to the quartz family. This shared basis allows repetition with different qualities without letting the overall composition fall apart.
Ruby & white sapphire · One mineral, two poles Both are corundum. Ruby owes its red colour essentially to traces of chromium, while white sapphire represents the largely colourless corundum quality. In strand 3 they therefore form a particularly beautiful arc from fire to clarity.

The overall alchemical movement

The four strands tell different stories, but follow the same basic principle: Condensation alone is not enough, and opening alone is not enough either. The field is meant to gather, dissolve, order, connect, enliven, open and then calmly embody itself once more.

In the language of the Paracelsian Tria Prima, this can be read as the interplay of Sal – form, hold and embodiment, Mercurius – flow, mediation and movement – and Sulphur – fire, individuality and activation. None of these principles is meant to dominate alone.

Overall character of the Level 3 standard composition

Together, the four strands form an arc from deep gathering through clear structure and living activation to a soft return into the water. The system is thus not composed for maximum “opening” at any price. The aim is a strong, ordered and at the same time pleasantly integrated overall field.

Sensorially, the composition is aimed at water that is meant to be experienced as clear, fresh, soft and round. Aquamarine, amethyst and chalcedony form the cool, flowing side; rose quartz and chrysoprase the harmonizing centre; ruby, sunstone and rhodochrosite provide targeted warmth; rock crystal, germanium, kyanite, white sapphire and lithium niobate form the ordering axis; elite shungite, black tourmaline and unakite-epidote give the structure its ground.

The crystals at each position can be individually tailored when ordering – you will find the overview of all available stones and special metals in the crystal list. This composition is the delivery standard for the Level 3 system unless otherwise agreed.

Chamber version: surcharges per Crystal Vortex™ chamber

For orientation: the 4-strand system has 36 chambers. If all chambers are plated, gold, for example, comes to 36 × €50 = €1,800; equally, only individual strands or positions can be plated – for instance the centre positions with lithium niobate and germanium.

An example – not a rigid rule: This Level 3 configuration shows how Aquadea composes crystals. Depending on the desired character of a system, individual strands and emphases can be changed. What remains decisive is a coherent overall composition – not the mere number of as many different crystals as possible.

Note: terms such as sphere of effect, field, resonance, I GING 81 assignment and alchemical quality describe traditional, symbolic and Aquadea-internal working models. The crystal healing and energetic properties mentioned are not medical claims, nor are they scientifically proven effects.
